BMW 335i Trunk Lock Cylinder

The BMW 335i Trunk Lock Cylinder locks the back cargo space to keep whatever you stash safe. This Trunk Lock Cylinder has a keyed barrel that is connected to latch rods, so a simple twist of a key will render a solid barrier against prying hands. When it is locked, it prevents tools, spare tires, and other equipment from being easy targets for thieves, an important advantage when you consider the roomy trunk found in any 335i. If you forget about the Trunk Lock Cylinder, your precious fishing tackle or building materials may be exposed as soon as someone lifts the lid. Early and later production years have the same basic mechanical concept, that is, a direct key rotation freezing the latch, so drivers enjoy familiar performance throughout the entire range of 335i. No electronic tricks are needed. The Trunk Lock Cylinder provides instant tactile feedback and even works if the battery dies. Thanks to that basic design, BMW owners can count on muscle memory to lock up after loading, keeping the spacious cargo bay a private area. Ultimately, a healthy Trunk Lock Cylinder operates the generous trunk from open box to sealed vault, which gives every BMW driver confidence that gear behind the rear seats will stay in place.

BMW 335i Trunk Lock Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q:
How to remove and install the trunk lock cylinder on BMW 335i?
    Posted by Lenin L.
    A:
Remove the trunk lid trim panel and unclip the trunk lock cylinder trim cover. Working inside the trunk at the rear of the lock cylinder, disconnect the bowden cable from the lock cylinder. Insert a 2 mm diameter punch into the hole and press down the catch, then rotate the lock release 90° counterclockwise and remove the punch. Remove the fasteners and take out the lock cylinder. For installation, reverse the removal process, ensuring to inspect and replace the lock cylinder seal if necessary, properly seat the seal, and rotate the lock release 90° clockwise once the lock is in place.
