How to remove and install the blower motor resistor on the BMW X5?

The blower motor resistor, also known as the blower output stage or limit switch, requires the removal of the right lower dashboard trim, glove compartment, right footwell air duct, and the carpeted panel on the right side of the center console as necessary. While working underneath and in front of the climate control housing, detach the electrical connector, unlock the resistor, and pull it out of the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The BMW X5 Blower Motor Resistor modulates fan speed to maintain a fresh and comfortable cabin. The Blower Motor Resistor in every BMW X5, whether early builds or recent ones, is on the airflow circuit.
