How do you replace a halogen bulb in the headlight on BMW X5?

Working in the engine compartment behind the headlight, remove the plastic halogen bulb cover if applicable. Twist the bulb holder in the direction of the arrow to remove it. Replace the bulb, ensuring not to touch the bulb surface with bare fingers, as grease from the skin can cause the bulb to fail prematurely. Installation is the reverse of removal.
