BMW Z3 Oil Pump Parts Questions & Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the oil pump on BMW Z3?
A: Disconnect the negative battery cable before removing the oil pump. For the S14 engine, remove the Oil Pan, sprocket mounting nut, and oil pump. Install by tightening the pump-to-block bolts, placing the pump drive chain around the sprocket, and adding shims if needed. For the M20 engine, remove the oil pan and oil pump, then inspect and replace the driveshaft bearing before installing the gear and cover. For the M42 and M44 engines, drain the oil, and remove the timing case cover and oil pump. Clean the mounting surfaces, replace the gasket, and install the timing case.
