    How do you remove and install the oil pump on the the 1997 BMW Z3? Posted by Customer
    A:
    Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Then, remove the oil pan to expose the oil pump. Next, remove the sprocket mounting nut and pull the sprocket from the shaft. Finally, remove the oil pump mounting bolts and lower the oil pump. To install, tighten the pump-to-block bolts and support bolts, place the pump drive chain around the drive sprocket, and slide it over the pump shaft. Check the slack in the drive chain and add oil pump mounting shims if necessary.
