- A:To remove the transmission, start by removing the clutch pressure plate from the flywheel. Make sure to catch the clutch friction disc as it may drop out. Inspect the clutch disc for any damage or wear, and replace it if necessary. Check the flywheel for cracks or damage, and resurface it if needed. Replace the release bearing along with the clutch disc. Clean all surfaces and ensure there is no oil or grease. Position the disc on the flywheel with the correct side facing out. Use a tool to center the friction disc. If reusing the original pressure plate, use a special tool to compress the diaphragm spring and reset the self-adjusting mechanism. Install the clutch cover assembly, aligning the marks if applicable. Tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.
