    Q:
What should be inspected periodically for damage, loose components, and cracked or worn wiper blade elements on BMW 325i? Posted by Customer
    A:
You should check for defects, loose parts or worn-out blade elements on an intermittent basis. Wiper blades accumulate a thin film over time which may hinder their performance hence they must be regularly cleansed with mild soap solution. If the wiper blade elements are cracked, worn or warped or no longer clean adequately, these must be changed by brand new ones. Raise the arm assembly from the glass to create space and then push down the release lever so that you can detach the wiper blade assembly from the hook at the edge of that arm. To take off either of them pull away on the clip and remove its plastic cap until it locks into place. Turn around 90-degrees and disengage such from that arm. Attach a fresh wiper on this arm. A click is heard when connected properly.

    Q:
What are the common problems with front wiper blades and how can they be resolved on BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Some of the common difficulties seen with wipers are streaking / sheeting, water drops left after wiping, chattering of blades. This can be due to wiper blades which have been predetermined by a road film or car wash wax; this in most cases has to be cleaned by washing the blades in soapy water; if the snag persists then the best solution is to replace the wiper blades. Different experts recommend the wiper blades being replaced at least twice a year, namely before and after the cold season. Remaining droplets of water which are left behind to dry are normally caused by oil road film or diesel exhaust deposits adhering to the glass and it can best be removed by using an alcohol or ammonia solution or another comparable non abrasive cleaner. Chatter my originate from dirty or worn blades and/ or from twisted wiper arms which alters contact angle of the blades. This can be rectified by cleaning both the blades and the glass, and in the case you notice the twist of the wiper arms to be off, you should check and adjust this, and if the problem persists, then you should consider replacing the wiper blades and arms.

    Q:
How should you properly remove and reinstall the Windshield Wiper assembly on the BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Ensure wipers are parked with the stalk switch in the OFF position and the ignition is OFF. Use a fender cover to protect the windshield. To prevent damage to the wiper arms and pivots, do not manually slide or force the wiper arms across the windshield. Begin by removing the wiper arms and the upper and lower cabin microfilter housings. On the right side of the cowl cover, detach the windshield washer hose, separate the washer jet electrical connectors, and remove the rubber seal. Using a plastic prying tool, start at the corner of the windshield and carefully peel the cowl cover off the retainer at the lower edge of the windshield. On the left side of the plenum chamber, remove the wiper motor assembly mounting screws and the left side plenum chamber bulkhead fasteners. If necessary, unbolt one end of the left strut tower cross brace for access to the rightmost bolt. Detach the wiper motor wiring harness from the bracket and remove the center plenum chamber bulkhead bolt to allow for the removal of the left plenum chamber bulkhead. Pull the wiper assembly out of the plenum chamber and detach the electrical connector. When installing the wiper assembly, check that rubber buffers A and B are intact and in place, and place the wiper assembly in the plenum chamber, ensuring buffer B fits in bracket C. When reinstalling the cowl cover, check that seals and grommets are intact and seated correctly to avoid water leaks into the cabin. Before reinstalling the wiper arms, ensure the wiper motor is in the PARK position and reset the wiper blade positions and contact angle.

    Q:
How is the wiper blade position set in relation to the top of the cowl cover at the base of the windshield on BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Wiper blade position is set in relation to the top of the cowl cover at the base of the windshield. Ensure the wipers are in the PARK position, then loosen the wiper arm nut. Measure from the center of the wiper blade to the base of the windshield and reset the wiper arm position as necessary. When finished, tighten the arms to the final torque.

    Q:
How to remove and install a wiper blade on BMW 335i? Posted by Customer
    A:
Rotate the wiper arm at the base away from the window. Here it is necessary to work on the wiper blade pivot; When pressure is exerted on the locking clip, it is possible to remove the black plastic cap. Place the wiper blade in such a way that it is just right angled with the wiper arm before it and slide off from the pin of the wiper arm. Be careful not to let wiper arm move back onto the windscreen with force when the wiper blade is off. The process of installation is the exact opposite; it is necessary to check that the plastic cap remains on the rod and clicks in place.

    A:
To remove the blade from the assembly, pull the arm away until it locks, release the clip, and remove the plastic cover. Then, rotate the blade 90-degrees and disengage it from the arm.
