BMW 61617253386 Windshield Wiper Arm

The wiping performance is much better if the angle between the wiper blade and the plane of the windshield is correct and this is determined by the twist position of the wiper arm. First, remove the wiper blade off the wiper arm pin. When removing the wiper blade it should not be allowed to swing back on the wiper arm with a bang on the windshield. Then insert the BMW special tool 61 6 100 onto the wiper arm pin and align it with the windscreen then read the degree on the scale. If the angle was applied incorrectly, then utilizing the BMW special instructions of tool set 61 6110 one should twist the wiper arm to the proper wiper blade contact angle.

First, bring the fingers close and try to hold the plastic cap of wiper and rotate it anticlockwise direction to remove it from the wiper pivot. Then we have to take the wiper arm off the rear window, turning it as we do, and unscrew the mounting nut. Remove the wiper arm from the pivot using a puller as BMW special tool 61 6 060 or with an equivalent. It is recommended that the wiper assembly be in the PARK position before the wiper arm is installed; this may be done with the ignition ON and the rear wiper ran for two full cycles; subsequently, turn the ignition OFF and wait for the wiper motor to stop before turning off the ignition. After that, join the wiper arm to the car and loosely secure the mounting nut, you then examine and align the wiper bladed and finally torque the arm to its required specification.

To access the front wiper motor and linkage, remove the cabin air filter cover, plastic covers behind the strut towers, and cable guide. Slide the cabin air filter lower housing forward and remove it from the cowl.

Ensure the wiper motor is in the PARK position and reset the wiper blade positions and contact angle.

Remove the wiper arm mounting nut and use BMW special tool 61 6 210 or an equivalent puller to detach the wiper arm from the pivot.
