The interval control thumb wheel controls the wiping interval which is influenced by road speed and ranges from 26 seconds when the car is stationary to 2 seconds if the car is moving at high speed; shorter intervals are taken at higher speeds. Wiping speeds are also influenced by the road speed; the slow speed transits to intermittent at times when the vehicle is at a standstill, while the fast speed transits to slow at the same times. Also, the wiper motor wiring as well the electrical contacts are such that they have a load protection circuit to shut down the motor if for instance a wiper arm is stuck for 16 seconds.

The interval control thumb wheel is used to change the wiping interval of the windscreen wipers; this is determined by the speed of the car; and is at 26 seconds for stationary car and reduces to 2 seconds for high speed car, with the intervals reducing as the speed increases further. Wiping speeds also vary with the road speed; slow speed lasts those wipe at intermittent levels while fast speed shifts to slow at the same time as the vehicle comes to a halt. The wiper motor wiring and electrical contacts are made to prevent overloading of the motor by switching off the motor if a wiper arm is stalled for 16 seconds.
