Crankshaft so that the no. 4
Piston is at TDC. Unscrew all the oil pan securing bolts in a diagonally opposite sequence, turning each a little at a time, and then remove them. If the oil pan is stuck tight, avoid levering it off; instead, cut around the gasket with a sharp knife. Lift the oil pan from the crankcase, and if the engine remains in the car, draw the oil pan forward during removal to clear the oil pump intake pipe.
