How to remove and reinstall the air intake hood and air cleaner housing on BMW X5?

Working at the front of the engine compartment above the radiator, remove the air intake hood expansion rivets, detach the air intake duct, and lift off the hood. Remove the complete air filter box while disconnecting and labeling connectors, ducting, and hoses as necessary, including the air duct hose clamp, mass air flow sensor connector, and air filter box mounting bolts. After reinstalling, check for DTCs and clear and reset ECM memory.
