The fuel filter is positioned below the car about in front of the left front seat. Start by lifting and properly supporting the car, and then remove the battery's negative terminal, note that doing this will clear fault codes from the engine control module memory. Also, unbolt the fasteners for the fuel tank underbody protection to the Carson carrier on the left side to have the forward edge of the underbody protection panel dangling so as to expose the fuel filter and carbon canister. Loosen the fuel filter mounted at the front edge of the fuel tank by disconnecting the vacuum line and the fuel lines and placing a pan underneath to catch any dripping fuel The fuel filter is secured in its position by bolts which must be loosened to free it. To remove the fuel filter, put on your safety gear then loosen the hose clamping devices and put a clamp on the filter inlet and outlet hoses to prevent fuel drip off and then unscrew the mounting bracket and the hose clamps on both ends of the filter. Withdraw the fuel from the inlet side of the filter through the outlet into the container and examine the fuel withdrawn for the presence of rust, moisture and pollutants. Incase one wishes to reuse this fuel pressure regulator, one removes the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel filter by removing the vapor hose, pulling out the locking clip, and then the fuel pressure regulator and then instal this fuel pressure regulator in the new filter.s While removing the filter from its connections, it is wise to clean the surrounding region and before assembling the filter connections, one had to ensure they are leak-free before putting the cover.
