BMW Z3 Headlight Switch

The BMW Z3 Headlight Switch allows the driver to instantly have control over the road lights. It provides simple controls over when the lights come on and how bright they glow. Mounted within easy reach on the dashboard, this Headlight Switch flips the circuit that runs the low and high beams. All you have to do is give it one twist or pull, and the chosen mode will kick in without delay. Because night visibility and daytime signaling are reliant on it, the Headlight Switch is also responsible for dimming parking lamps. This allows drivers to adjust the intensity of their beam to match traffic or weather conditions. Throughout the production run, every Z3 applied a rotary-pull style of Headlight Switch instead of the stalk mounted levers applied in some other cars. This remained uniform from the early 1.9-liter roadsters through the final six-cylinder coupes. Though interior trim colors and part numbers changed when BMW refreshed cabins through the years, the electrical logic of the Headlight Switch remained the same by using a simple mechanical cam that offers to close certain contacts to route power to the selected filament. Because this design proved to be reliable, owners of the BMW Z3's typically have years of trouble-free lighting control with only the occasional cleaning of the switch contacts to keep the switch click feeling crisp.
